A WhiteWall Story: A How-To Guide For Wedding Planning

Every year, 2.3 million weddings occur within the U.S. alone. That averages out to roughly 6,200 weddings a day according to statistics provided by soundvision.com. Sound Vision also estimates that couples receive gifts from an average of 200 guests, with each gift ranging anywhere from $70 to $100 in price. With all these numbers being thrown around, weddings can easily transition from an exciting and joyous event into a major headache if not planned accordingly.

We recently caught up with Wedding Planner extraordinaire, Pauleen Vacca, to discuss some of the stresses that couples frequently face when planning their wedding day. With design choices varying on a wedding-to-wedding basis, most couples frequently seek Pauleen's guidance to help set up the foundational building blocks for their big day.

It is worth mentioning that Pauleen is also a WhiteWalls adopter, so naturally, we were curious to see how Magnatag's products are incorporated as part of her planing process.

You can check out the video above for more details on what exactly goes into the wedding planning process. When you're finished, be sure to check out our list below for some of our favorite organizational tips to help with your planning process.

Break Out The Whiteboard
Perhaps we are a bit biased when it comes to whiteboards, but having a tool that can be used for brainstorming is essential for every bride-to-be. Even though you may not be ready to commit to anything just yet, it's helpful to have an idea of what you and your fiancé are looking for.

Create a Method of Visualization For Design
You want to have the ability to visualize every element of your day. It's easy to assume the bridesmaid dresses will look great next to the groomsmen, but until you can actually see the two side by side, nothing should be set in stone.

Give Yourself Plenty Of Time To Plan
Most wedding planners recommend you start planning at least a year in advance to ensure you have an adequate amount of time to book a venue, music, and everything in between.

Pay Attention To The Small Details And Invest In a Schedule
Once the planning process begins, you will become inundated with various dates for everything ranging from cake tastings to dress fittings. Be prepared to have your weekends booked up for months at a time, with little to no wiggle room in between. It's best to get in the habit of keeping a schedule at home to guarantee that you're in the know when it comes to pre-scheduled meetings.

Color-Code Everything (Before And After The Wedding)
Before you can officially run off into the real world with your new spouse, there's going to be a lot of paper work to deal with. For starters, you'll want to figure out who's officiating your wedding and guarantee they can do so legally. Once that's settled You'll want to tackle financials: How are you going to merge finances? How will you file taxes? Finally, you'll be left with dealing with finalizing other legal documents like passports, drivers licenses, and social security.  There's more to it than that, but you get the point. Keep track of all your files and color code them for easy access.
