Top Ways to Utilize A Whiteboard for a Presentation

If you've been keeping up with our blog, then you're completely aware of the many different creative and unique ways that you can use a whiteboard. Whether it's for a calendar, planning for both the short term and long term, keeping motivational quotes on, or even just using it for artistic reasons, a whiteboard is great to have. Not only that, but one of the biggest benefits of having a whiteboard is that you can utilize it to its fullest extent for your next presentation.

We've all sat in on meetings at the office where a presentation or training session was given, and it was done as the standard PowerPoint presentation that we've all grown accustomed to. While these can be great in some situations, they have grown tired and can be pretty dry in most instances. By constructing a unique and creative presentation with a whiteboard, you'll be able to keep the attention of your audience without them losing interest and focus.

Here are a couple of great ways to utilize a whiteboard for your next presentation, both ways that I've had success with in the past. Give them a try!
  • Video Presentations: That's right - you can put together an outstanding video presentation with a whiteboard, and not only will it look great, but you'll captivate your audience by grabbing their attention. To take advantage of this, create some hand-drawn animations on the whiteboard and upload them as video. Play the video while speaking during your presentation: Your audience will have much more interest in a video than they will in staring at words on slides. Remember in school when you would be more excited to see the television rolled into the room? Exactly. This fun and engaging idea will surely be a hit for your next presentation.
  • Engage Your Audience With Questions: If you can memorize your presentation, which can be done with enough practice, then this is a very fun way to go. I've had success myself with this method before, and it all starts by writing the topic of your presentation in the center of the board. From there, outline your ideas around the main topic idea as you go, and engage your audience by asking them questions. Put their ideas up on the whiteboard to make them feel engaged, and with the constant additions to the whiteboard, your audience will have no choice but to stay focused.

Face it: The traditional PowerPoint presentation has become tired. It can be tiring and disengaging for your audience to stare at slides that are jumbled with words, so try something unique. With a whiteboard, you can have a presentation that is creative and is one that your audience will have more of an interest in. Have you tried using a whiteboard for any of your presentations, or have you sat in on a meeting where one was used instead of a PowerPoint? If so, what did you find to be the biggest benefit? We want to hear from you!
